Maintenance of ProAir HRV Units.

As with any electromechanical device, some maintenance will be necessary. The design is such, that this work is minimal, easy  and inexpensive. The main component of maintenance is filter replacement. Each unit has two filters, a supply air filter and an  exhaust air filter, These are of the fabric type and enclosed in a cardbord frame. Both are identical, bi-directional (you dont have to worry which way you turn them) and require no tools to access.

The frequency of changing will depend on a few  factors, such as, your proximity to traffic, Your usage at the various speeds and houshold activities. An assessment of that frequency
will be made by ProAirs technician during commissioning, The filters are a very important part of the system because they carry out three functions.

1 They maintain air quality indoors and outdoors.

2 They protect the fans from getting coated with dirt and overheating.

3 They maintain the efficiency of the heat exchanger by keeping the heat transfer surfaces clean.

This means that filter replacement is cost effective and doing this at the recommended intervals ensures that your HRV system will last for decades.
